About TTRA Taiwan Trail Running Association

We love trail running and fast hiking, two outdoor passions that naturally go hand in hand. Our mission is to bring together Taiwan's hiking and trail running communities, inspiring more people to explore the outdoors, while creating a world-class race route that truly showcases the spirit of Taiwan.
Hello, I'm Chou Ching, Chairperson of the Taiwan Trail Running Association (TTRA). Ever since Taiwan loosened mountain access policies, the outdoor world has become more open and diverse.
My dream is simple to create an international-level trail race in Yangmingshan, one that can stand alongside the Hong Kong 100 and Japan's UTMF (Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji), so Taiwanese runners can proudly race on a route that represents our nation. Hosting a UTMB-level event in Yangmingshan isn't just a benefit for runners. It fosters an entire outdoor industry ecosystem that can thrive and grow globally.
Around 80% of trail runners in Taiwan are based in the north, so we believe the north should focus on building brand visibility and strategic marketing. Meanwhile, in the south, we aim to cultivate grassroots growth encouraging local clubs and trail groups. When these local foundations are strong, the entire industry will flourish.
We believe that fast hiking is the future of outdoor sports. Our association is more than an event organizer. We strive to be a self-sustaining, long-term force of influence in this field. The early stages will be challenging, but we're committed to adapting, growing, and moving forward. Strong steps make a steady path. We sincerely invite you to walk with us and build the future of trail running in Taiwan.
