Event Introduction
This summer, are you ready for a classic uphill challenge? The 2026 Holy Jesus Vertical is about to begin. The race course is set on Yilan’s highly popular hidden gem, Matcha Mountain, also known as the Holy Mother Trail. From the summit, the green ridgelines look like matcha ice cream, making this route a spiritual landmark for countless hikers. The course follows one of Taiwan’s most iconic mountain trails, winding upward through valleys, crossing Tongtian Bridge, and finally reaching the Jesus statue standing high above the clouds.
With 5.7 km and 831 m of elevation gain, every step challenges your legs and every breath tests your endurance. When sweat pours down and your energy is nearly exhausted, remind yourself: the finish is close, hold on a little longer. When you step onto the finish line, all the effort will turn into a deep sense of achievement. You are not only completing a race; you are surpassing yourself.
This race is also ideal for runners who love trail running, mountain running, Skyrunning, vertical races, uphill challenges, and Taiwan mountain adventures. The venue is located at Wufengqi Scenic Area in Yilan and the Holy Mother Trail, featuring valleys, forest paths, stone steps, Tongtian Bridge, and green ridgelines. It is one of Taiwan’s most representative uphill trail race settings.
